When I was younger, my journal entries used to end like a story.
There was always some kind of resolution. I would write through whatever I was feeling until I could arrive at a lesson or a conclusion that made everything feel neatly wrapped up. I believed that if I reflected deeply enough, I would eventually understand everything that happened in my life.
But something interesting has changed as I’ve gotten older.
My journal entries don’t end that way anymore.
Now they sometimes end with a simple sentence like, “I’m going to sign off for now.”
That shift reflects something life has slowly taught me: not every feeling can be perfectly resolved, and not every experience needs to be fully understood right away.
For many years, I felt pressure to make sense of everything. If something painful or confusing happened, I believed it was my job to analyze it, understand it, and somehow transform it into a clear lesson. But life doesn’t always cooperate with that kind of thinking.
Sometimes situations remain unfinished.
Sometimes people behave in ways we cannot fully explain.
Sometimes the meaning of an experience doesn’t reveal itself until years later.
And sometimes we simply don’t get a perfect answer.
What maturity has taught me is that growth doesn’t always come from solving every emotional puzzle. Often it comes from learning how to live with uncertainty and allowing life to continue unfolding without demanding immediate clarity.
There is a surprising peace that comes when we release the need to understand everything.
Instead of trying to control the story, we learn how to live inside it.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated by a situation that doesn’t make sense, or if you’ve spent time trying to analyze something over and over in your mind, I hope this reflection offers you a moment of relief. You don’t have to have every answer today.
Sometimes it’s enough to pause, take a breath, and simply say: I don’t know yet.
And that’s okay.
Watch the Reflection
I shared more thoughts about this realization in a recent video on the Vibes & Victory YouTube channel. In it, I talk about how our understanding of life often changes as we grow older and how accepting uncertainty can actually bring a deeper sense of peace.
